Rider Stories: Frank Ryack Jr

Finding Strength in Every Mile: Frank Rycak Jr’s Journey

“Cycling has become more than just a sport for me. It’s a pathway to healing, growth, and connection.” — Frank Rycak Jr, Dallas, GA

A Ride That Redefines Possibility

Each year Face of America: Gettysburg brings together adaptive and able-bodied cyclists to ride 110 miles from Arlington, Virginia to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. For many participants, this ride is far more than a cycling event — it’s a milestone in their personal journey.

For Frank Rycak Jr, a U.S. veteran from Dallas, Georgia, the ride became a powerful reminder of resilience, purpose, and the strength of community.

A Pathway To Growth and Healing

“As a veteran and an adaptive athlete, cycling has become more than just a sport for me. It’s been a pathway to healing, growth, and connection. After facing challenges that tested both my body and spirit, I turned to cycling as a way to push my limits and reclaim a sense of strength and freedom. Each mile reminds me of resilience, and every ride gives me a renewed sense of purpose.”

For Frank, cycling isn’t just about staying active — it’s about rebuilding. Every ride has been part of a larger journey of reclaiming strength and rediscovering what’s possible.

Discovering World TEAM

Frank first learned about World TEAM through the veteran community in Atlanta, where he witnessed firsthand the organization’s strong support for athletes of all abilities.

“The mission immediately resonated with me, and when I learned about the Face of America ride from Arlington to Gettysburg, I knew I wanted to be part of it. The event represented not only a physical challenge, but also a chance to ride alongside others who share the same determination and drive.”

Friendships Forged

Participating in Face of America gave Frank more than a finish line to chase — it gave him a community to lean on.

“Participating in Face of America has been life-changing. It’s given me the opportunity to be part of a powerful community where teamwork, encouragement, and shared effort are at the heart of everything. The Face of America ride reminded me that no journey has to be taken alone. We lift each other up, both on and off the bike.“

The friendships built on the road, the shared determination, and the sense of accomplishment have created lasting impact long after the ride was over.

A New Perspective

Frank’s experience with Face of America is a testament to the power of connection through sport. For him, cycling has become more than movement — it’s a way to keep growing, healing, and building bonds with others who understand the journey.

“The friendships, the sense of accomplishment, and the inspiration I’ve taken away from this experience will stay with me far beyond the finish line.“

Why This Ride Matters

Frank’s story reflects what makes Face of America: Gettysburg so extraordinary. It’s more than a bike ride — it’s a shared commitment to resilience, teamwork, and the belief that no one rides alone.
