On February 1, 2025 World T.E.A.M. returned to Arizona for the second annual Valley of the Sun Challenge sponsored by the Osaic Foundation. The one-day, 38-mile cycling event took place in Scottsdale bringing together adaptive and able-bodied athletes to pedal through the Sonoran Desert. The organization also hosted a sunset reception the evening before at Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s former winter home, where participants enjoyed refreshments and tours while taking in views of the McDowell Mountains.
The Valley of the Sun Challenge embodied World T.E.A.M.’s mission of inclusion and breaking down barriers by showcasing the abilities of all participants. Jon Brideau, President and CEO, emphasized how the event demonstrated unity and perseverance, while Jeffrey Green, chairman of the sponsor Osaic Foundation, noted it was a rewarding opportunity to support veterans and adaptive athletes. The challenge provided participants an opportunity to test themselves physically and emotionally while forming lasting bonds, allowing adaptive athletes to demonstrate their strength and resilience. Through funds raised by our athletes, we raised over $40,000 towards our inclusive athletic programming.
