Ed “Koz” Kozlowski

I was extremely excited when I found out about the opportunity to participate in the Soldiers to the Summit at Snowbird. I’m looking forward to a bonding experience with fellow wounded warriors and experiencing the snow activities since I now live in sunny Florida. Bad back, bad knees, what could go wrong with skis! – Ed Kozlowski

Ed “Koz” Kozlowski currently lives in Land O Lakes, Florida and works as a defense contractor for USCENTCOMat MacDill Air Force Base. A native of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Kozlowski suffers from combat-related PTSD. During his carrier, Kozlowski was stationed at a variety of locations during his nearly 24 years in the Air Force:

  • • Lackland AFB, TX
    • Defense Language Institute, Presidio of Monterey, CA
    • Goodfellow AFB, TX
    • Fairchild AFB, WA
    • Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom
    • Ft. George G. Meade, MD
    • Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ
    • Nellis AFB, NV
    • Offutt AFB, NE
    • Maxwell AFB, AL
    • Peterson AFB, CO
    • Las Vegas, NV
    • Hurlburt Field, FL

In addition, Kozlowski has been deployed to the following locations:

  • • Aviano Air Base, Italy
    • San Vito Air Station, Italy
    • Hellenikon Air Base, Greece
    • Riyadh Air Base, Saudi Arabia
    • Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar
    • Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Crete

While in the Air Force, Kozlowski served as a Russian and Serbian-Croatian airborne cryptologic linguist. He accumulated nearly 8,000 flight hours on board various platforms, including the RC-135, AC-130H, AWACS, EC-130H, and RAF Nimrod. He then crossed over after reaching E-7 and gained his commission, serving as an Intelligence Officer.

Kozlowski reports he joined the Air Force 43 days after his graduation from high school. “I was looking for a way to get out of Pennsylvania, help pay for school and see as much of the world as I could. I think I did fairly well in that department.”

Despite his world travel, Kozlowski says he has very little outdoor sports experience. “I did play little league baseball growing up and participated on several squadron softball teams,” he recalls. “My interests include travel and just about anything related to the Walt Disney Company.”
