Join World T.E.A.M. Sports this April 15-17, 2011 for our annual Face of America bike ride to honor our military—disabled, veterans and active duty—and the true America Spirit.
Sponsored by Penske Truck Rental, Booz Allen Hamilton, AAPD, Wellspan Health and General Electric, the ride kicks off in our Nation’s Capitol with a festive banquet before embarking on a 110 mile journey to historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Face of America is much more than a bike ride, it is an opportunity to share stories and build camaraderie with nearly 500 other participants.
Face of America is one of our nation’s few truly inclusive bike rides and continues to change the way the world views athletes who are disabled. As GE Healthcare’s Robert Knox put it: “I was truly inspired by the ride. ‘Changing me fundamentally as a person’ is the best way I can sum it up.”
- Eric Frazier, US Marine Corps., Face of America participant and candidate for Paralympics Biathlon

EVENT DETAILS
On April 16 & 17, World T.E.A.M. Sports will host the 2011 Face of America Bike Ride, our annual two-day bike ride from our Nation’s Capitol to Gettysburg, to honor and assist our military — disabled, veterans and active duty — and the true American Spirit.
This inspiring ride is an opportunity to welcome servicemen and women who are disabled, and non-disabled servicemen and women, as teammates and show them how much we appreciate their efforts. We will have the opportunity to show them they can be a part of the TEAM.
Registration for civilian riders is $100, retired military $50, active duty $50, Wounded Warrior participation is FREE.
This registration fee includes the Friday night dinner, the Saturday breakfast & lunch, the Sunday steak and beer at the ride finish and return bus transportation from Gettysburg to Washington, D.C.
Fundraising minimums for 2011 are: civilian riders $750, retired military riders $500, active duty military riders $250. Wounded warriors are not required to fundraise for this event, but are encouraged to do so.
To be eligible to participate in the ride, every participant will be required to pay the balance of his or her fundraising minimum at final ride registration the night of April 15. Funds raised through event registration and donations support our events and disabled athletes participating in our events.
The Kick-off Dinner Friday night at the Hyatt Regency Washington is included in the registration fee. Participants can purchase additional dinner tickets for their guests online at the time of initial registration for $35. Guest tickets are $40 if purchased the night of the dinner on site.
The ride will travel approximately 55 miles each day, with an overnight stop on Saturday in Frederick, Maryland. Lodging and dinner for Saturday is the responsibility of each participant. World T.E.A.M. Sports has secured rooms and special event rates at hotels in Frederick. Information about participating hotels and special rates can be found in the Hotel section, below.
For everyone’s safety, private support vehicles containing family and friends of participants will not be allowed along the official ride route. Owing to the large number of participants, private vehicles will need to follow adjacent routes to reach view and rest points.
All participants who meet their fundraising minimum will receive a 2011 Face of America jersey at ride registration.

WORLD T.E.A.M. SPORTS FACE OF AMERICA FUNDRAISING
UpCycle With UpCycle4Hope
World T.E.A.M. Sports is proud to partner with UpCycle4Hope to raise funds for our Face of America ride and upcoming events nationally. With UpCycle4Hope, a Florida non-profit organization, we are collecting dormant and unused electronic devices. Items we are collecting include cell phones (particularly smart phones), laptop computers, iPods, video games and consoles and digital cameras.

UpCycle4Hope accepts many unneeded digital devices.
This fundraising program requires no selling, nothing to buy and no upfront investment. The average US home has over $1,600 in dormant/unused electronics. These items can be donated and UpCycled (meaning they are given a second life through resale) in many cases. Donations provide funding to World T.E.A.M. Sports.
We will be collecting donations at the Face of America kick-off dinner Friday night at the Hyatt Regency Washington and throughout the event, culminating in Gettysburg. Be sure to tell your friends and family to bring in their devices for donation.
For more information regarding this program, please call toll-free 888-442-0862 or visit the UpCycle4Hope website.

Be Safe with Road ID
World T.E.A.M. Sports has joined with Road ID for a special promotional program that will provide a portion of the proceeds from sales through World T.E.A.M. Sports to support upcoming WTS events and participating athletes who are disabled.
Road ID is the creator of innovative ID bracelets and dog tags that are perfect for participants in sporting events. Durable and comfortable, the bracelets and the tags provide critical information about the wearer in case of a medical emergency, including name, phone number, and contact information. By wearing the bracelet or the tags in an event, you’ll be assured that even if you are unable to talk during an emergency, you’ll be able to provide critical information to medical authorities.
Exceptionally cost-effective, the Road ID bracelets and dog tags can be ordered online through their secure website. By placing your order through World T.E.A.M. Sports, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the organization and its participants.
