Cody Miranda joined the Marine Corps in 1990 and served 18 years. He retired from the Corps after spending 1-½ years in various hospitals on the west coast of the United States. He suffers from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and a Traumatic Brain Injury.
Cody’s units included Lima Co. 3/3, Alfa 3rd Reconnaissance Co., 1st Force Reconnaissance Co., Naval Special Clearance Team-1 and EWTGPAC Reconnaissance Instructor. He reports he had seven deployments to “hot” spots around the world, including Operation Desert Storm, Operation Eagar Mace, Operation Stabilize, Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Iraqi Freedom.
Cody lives in San Diego and participates in various athletic events around the country, “keeping myself motivated and taking on different challenges.” Among these challenges was World T.E.A.M. Sports‘ Soldiers to the Summit Expedition in October, 2010 to Nepal.
He currently serves as a diver with the Oceanic Exploration and Discovery Corporation, an international company seeking sunken 19th century cargo ships.

Read about you in Outside Magazine. Just wanted to let you know that It was pretty awesome of you to stay back with your best friend. Being so close to the summit and to make the decision purely for selfless reasons is extremely impressive! Hope all is well!
